SAFE Center provides accredited 40-hour initial classroom training program for SANE Nurses delivered in the state of Iowa. SANE accredited programs such as the ones offered through SAFE Center allow nurses to become eligible to sit for international SANE Certification. This course meets the guidelines internationally recognized. This training has previously been awarded the prestigious IAFN seal, which noted the highest standards recognizable in SANE education. These training standards are now housed by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). This course has been approved by the Emergency Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  Additionally, this course satisfies and meets the criteria established in accordance with the Iowa SANE standards per section (915) 9.79

The purpose of this course is to educate nurses in the standards of Forensic Nursing and to ensure competent medical-legal forensic evaluation for all patients reporting sexual violence. Taking into account developmental, cultural, racial, ethnic, sexual and socioeconomic diversity. This course is intended for nurses interested in becoming a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). Requirements include RN or higher.
