Join us for a night of elegance and fun at The River Center. Put on your best teal attire and get ready to help support the SAFE Center of Iowa with the very first GALA to help in fulfilling their mission of delivering coordinated, comprehensive, and compassionate care to survivors of sexual assault through clinical care, client support, and education.

SAFE Center of Iowa offers services for those affected by sexual assault.

S.A.F.E Center of Iowa is a new stand-alone sexual assault center that will soon be offering on-site comprehensive acute and follow up care to those impacted by sexual assault. The center will service victims of all ages, races, and genders.

Care

SAFE Center provides clinical services to clients immediately following their assault by trauma informed experts including, specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE Nurses).

Advocacy

Co-located Sexual Assault Advocates support clients during their clinical exam, connect them to crime victim programs, refer them to community resources, and provide a reassuring presence during the recovery process.

Legal

SAFE Center services go well beyond the initial exam, including follow up medical, counseling, law enforcement, and legal services.

One of the SAFE Center’s main objectives is training the next generation of SANE Nurses, medical staff, and law enforcement professionals. We offer training courses right here on our website for you to earn your certifications.

Medical Provider (M.D./D.O. and P.A.) Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Examiner

$550.00

The purpose of this course is to educate providers in the standards to ensure competent medical-legal forensic evaluation for all patients reporting sexual violence. Taking into account developmental, cultural, racial, ethnic, sexual and socioeconomic diversity. This course is intended for providers interested in becoming Sexual Assault Qualified Provider Examiners. In order to successfully complete this training, participants must complete all online requirements and receive a 90% on the post-test. All requirements listed above must be met to satisfy completion of course. No partial credit given.  This course satisfies and meets the criteria established in accordance with the Iowa SANE standards per section (915) 9.79. This course meets AOA Category 2-B CME by Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences (DMU) and is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). This course meets AMA PRA Category 1 Credits by Iowa Medical Society (IMS) through the joint providership of Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences (DMU) and S.A.F.E. Center of Iowa.
